Safal Azeez | A QNET Success Story
QNET has given me a chance to give my parents the best life
Right from the time he was in college, Safal Azeez knew what his dream home would look like. He was 21 when he decided that he would build a house for his parents and only when he achieved that dream, would he get married. The Kochi resident had studied electronics and communications engineering and spent four years as a software developer with a multinational IT company, slowly working towards his goal.
Then one day, nearly four years ago, his best friend told him about the direct selling industry and the many opportunities it offers.
Even though his parents were initially apprehensive, Safal decided to take a leap of faith. “My best friend and I have known each other for so long – I knew he wouldn’t give me poor advice.” His decision paid off handsomely – within four years of being a dedicated and hard-working QNET India distributor, Safal fulfilled his dream. At 26, he built his own house in the heart of Kochi and in August 2019 his family finally moved into their new home!
In this chat, Safal talks about his transition from engineer to entrepreneur, and how his new career is helping him, and others, achieve dreams.
What were the biggest changes after you switched from a full-time job to a QNET distributor?
Before QNET my life was boring; I lacked ambition. I wasted most of my time at home during the weekends. On weekdays, the routine was monotonous – go to work and come back home. I wanted to do something productive along with my job so I wouldn’t waste my time. When I was introduced to QNET, I initially got started because of my friend. Then I started attending the training programs, the conferences and events and that’s when I began to see the big picture. There was so much to do and so many new things to learn! I understood that if I learn how to do this business right, and do it with focus and dedication, anything is possible. Since then not only have I achieved my dreams, I have also helped other people achieve their dreams through direct selling. More importantly, I know that I have grown immensely as a person with QNET.
How did QNET help you achieve your dream?
From a fairly young age, I knew that I wanted to build a home for my parents. By the time I reached college, I had visualised it in my mind. I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like. When I was 21, I had promised myself that I will not get married before I can achieve this goal. When I started working, with the salary that I was getting, this was starting to look like a distant dream. Also, I was keen not to take a loan to do this as I did not want to be in debt for the rest of my life.
When I started with QNET, for the first two years I was only doing this business part time alongside my day job. I was earning a good income and saw the potential of doing even better if I was dedicated to building my sales business full time. About a year and a half back, I quit my job to focus on QNET full time, and recently I was able to see my dream become a reality.
Everything happened just the way I had decided it would be. On August 4th, 2019, we moved into our new house and I also got engaged to a wonderful girl on the same day. I am overjoyed!
How has QNET impacted your life?
I have changed a lot at a personal level. When I started with QNET, I wasn’t fluent in English and I wasn’t a good public speaker. But now I am confident enough to speak in front of a crowd of 2000 people! QNET has inspired me constantly work on improving myself. I keep upgrading both professionally and personally. I feel like I am a better person now.
Did you face any challenges in your journey?
Yes, of course. Initially, when I was alone in Chennai, I wanted to quit on many occasions. But I pushed through the challenges and kept reminding myself – “life would be boring without challenges”. When I first started, I faced a lot of rejection too. I was rejected six to seven times and it took nearly two months for my first successful sale. But rejections only made me stronger. While the first sale took around 2 months, I earned my first commission cheque having generated sufficient sales volume only after almost 4 months. But I didn’t give up.
How did you motivate yourself to get through the tough times?
Initially, I thought of quitting. What held me back was the thought of all the people who told me I couldn’t do it. I wanted to prove that I could make it in this business. That was my motivation to continue, it kept me going when my faith was shaken. Also, my uplines and mentors really helped me a lot. My upline Jayadev Thilak truly believed in me and supported me during the tough times. He mentored me to do better everyday. He is one of the hardest working persons I know and he is one of my role models in business.I now realise that without challenges life will be boring.
How important is teamwork in direct selling? What do you do to ensure your team members are happy, satisfied and working to the best of their capabilities?
I have never considered my people a ‘team’– these are my people, they’re my family. This industry has given me people who will do anything for me just as I would for them. This is how strong our bond is. When it comes to helping others, my mentors VC Sanu S Nair and VC Jayadev Thilak have taught me to be genuine and to do everything I do from the heart. I care about my team members and their dreams. When you work on their dreams and help them succeed, they will be with you and will help you achieve your dreams too.
Any success tips for young entrepreneurs who are looking to join the direct selling industry?
I believe that ethics, especially in business, take you a long way. By conveying the right information, no matter how difficult it is, always yield a good outcome. Nothing but consistent effort will make you a success and fetch you profits in this business.
Be consistent, even if you don’t see an income right away. There is no quick money in this business. You shouldn’t come into this business hoping to earn a large income in a short time. Do not compare yourself to others and continue to focus on your business without worrying about what others have gained. I always refer to this quote that my upline, AVP Nasib BR had said, “Always be boringly consistent” and ask others to follow it too.
Now that you have achieved one of your biggest dreams, what are some other future goals?
My immediate next dream is to have the perfect wedding, and take full responsibility for it. I do not want my parents to pay for anything. It is going to be one of the most important days of my life and I will make it a day to remember. I am also fond of cars, so upgrading my old Swift to my dream car is next on my list.
More than anything else, I want to give my parents the best life, one which they haven’t even dreamed of. My parents have made great sacrifices to give me a good education and life. I will give them the best life, for sure. That’s my biggest dream!
